Are you getting the best deal?
Why you should question your electricity bills

Does it feel as if your electricity bills are creeping up a little bit higher each time you open the letterbox? Are you starting to feel like you’re not getting the best deal? The reality is, you probably aren’t.

As one of Albury’s top electrical services providers, the first thing we look at before quoting someone is their electricity bill and quite often, our customers get back to us with a bill shock.

Why? Because 99.9% of the time we find that you could make savings just by questioning and comparing plans. Those nasty retailers won’t just spell it out for you, you need to look for it.

I have seen people who would easily save $1000 a year, before adding a solar and/or battery system.

Imagine that you’re paying $0.40c per unit of electricity (kWh) when you could be paying $0.35c. What can that do for you? Well, it could put $730 into your back pocket. Just think of the things you can buy with that amount! (uummmmm, did someone say batteries?)

So, that figure is for a household that uses 40kWh of energy a day, 365 days a year. What if you tend to use more power overnight, and your off-peak tariff is higher than your neighbour’s? A small shift could save you hundreds more again.

These are just examples of what you might be able to negotiate with your retailer. But, if negotiations break down, it’s time to look elsewhere. As your trusted electricians in Albury-Wodonga, we recommend doing a price check at least once a year.

You can go to energy comparison websites like wattever.com.au or the government site energymadeeasy.gov.au. These sites will help you compare your current plan with other retailers – you may just be pleasantly surprised at how much you can save.

Every cent you save adds up, and every cent is worth saving:
Why? Because tomorrow matters.

Does an EV make sense? It certainly does for us!

We bought a Tesla model 3 for our fleet in September 2023. It is the first Electric Vehicle (EV) we have owned and I thought it would be a good chance to look at the savings we have experienced now that it has done a little over 10,000km.

Should I Go Off-Grid?

When it comes to using solar energy for your home, you have two main options: getting a grid-connected system or going off-grid. Since both setups have their own advantages, you should base your decision on certain key factors, such as the location of your home, your overall energy consumption, financial resources, and your lifestyle.
